The business challenge
Independent restaurants live on Google reviews and repeat guests, but the best moment to ask, the end of a good meal, usually passes with nothing captured. Delivery apps keep the customer relationship, a bad night shows up first as a public one-star review, and owners have no time for review tools, loyalty apps and email marketing, let alone a POS integration.

What MapleHex did
ChefPilot is MapleHex's sister company, and MapleHex designed and built it from the first sketch to restaurants using it in Kitchener-Waterloo. We built the guest journey (code, reward spin, rating, private feedback, review invitation), the owner dashboard with analytics and automated winback emails, staff redemption, and the API, database, job queues, email and subscription billing behind them. We also built an Android app that prints reward-code vouchers on a Bluetooth receipt printer, the chefpilot.ca marketing site, the brand and a print-ready flyer kit.

Key design & technical decisions
- 01
No app, no login, no POS: guests scan or type a code in their browser and are done in about two minutes, and a restaurant goes live after a 15-minute on-site setup with a loaned tablet and QR code printer, month to month.
- 02
Honest by design: every guest gets the same invitation to share a Google review whatever they rated, and no reward ever depends on leaving one. Private feedback reaches the owner first, so they hear about a bad night before the internet does.
- 03
One code, one spin: single-use codes printed on receipts or tucked into delivery bags gate the reward wheel, so rewards bring guests back in person and every QR placement can be measured.
- 04
A real multi-tenant platform: Next.js and React on the front, NestJS, Prisma and PostgreSQL behind it, BullMQ queues for email and alerts, Stripe for subscriptions, and a thin Flutter Android shell that hands printing to an ESC/POS printer.
04
The finished experience
Owners land on “Make every order grow your restaurant.” and follow the growth loop: a guest scans after the meal, spins a reward wheel, rates the visit and leaves private notes, then gets an invitation to share a Google review. The site then covers delivery orders, the two-minute guest journey, analytics, plans with on-site setup, plain-answer FAQs and what's being built next, and closes with a request for a 15-minute demo. Behind it, owners run everything from one dashboard: the feedback inbox, rating trends, the wheel, customers and winback emails.
